Class Expectations

Be Present, both Physically and Mentally

Time and time again I hear students say that they have no problems passing if they just try in my class and do what I say.

Cell Phones & Electronic Devices

All devices used in my room must be used for an academic purpose.

This includes computers, iPods, iPads, tablets, mp3 players, cell phones, PSPs, etc.  Calculators being used to play games will be confiscated.  Cell phones must be on silent at all times. I do allow these electronic devices to be used in class for educational purposes with my prior permission and clear instruction as to their use.  If a device is seen or heard outside of a designated usage time, I reserve the right to confiscate the item. To use it without my permission constitutes a violation of the school’s electronic communication policy.

Headphones are NOT to be used to listen to music in class on your Chromebooks.  You are welcome to make suggestions to the music played in class.  Headphones are only to be used with permission to watch academic videos.

When in doubt, ask Ms. Cool!

Bathroom Breaks

Not during lecture or in the last 10 minutes of class.

The pass is the large plastic graduated cylinder by the door.

Don't pee in it.

Be positive.  Ask for help when you need it.

Picture
I am available before school, after school (sometimes during period 7) and during intervention (period 5) for help.

I am rarely available at lunch.

The best time to get help is during class!

You are not 2.  Use your words.

Be respectful

I also hate it when students treat the trashcan like a basketball hoop. Most of the time they miss.  Get up and put things in the proper recycling or trash bin.

Food & Drink in Class

Food is never allowed in class.

You can have drinks in the classroom if they have a lid on them.

Drinks are never allowed in the lab.

If students leave a mess, the drink privileges will be revoked.

Do your work, learn the material, ask questions, and your grade will be fine.

I update Aeries gradebook a LOT!

Check now and you will see I have already been at it.

If I make a mistake (and I make lots of them!) please let me know at an appropriate time and I will fix it right away. Your grade is your responsibility. It is up to you to make sure you are putting forth your best effort and that I did not make any mistakes.

Academic Honesty

This is something I take extremely seriously.

You are never to copy the work of another student unless I explicitly say "Copy so-and-so's work." Usually this only happens when I want you to get lab data you were absent for. I will tell you. Do not assume.

When I say "work together" that is not your cue for one person to write it down and the other to copy it.

We do a lot of work off the Internet. Trust me, I can tell when you Google your answers or get them from another person. Don't do it.

Repercussions involve scores of zero and phone calls home.

No one says school  is easy.

I'm available before & after school though the best time to get help is in class when you are struggling. You are always welcome to come in during 5th period intervention with a pass. I am rarely available at lunch.
