Days 9 & 10 - The Kansas Lab & Equipment Identification

For the next two days you will work on a lab and equipment identification.  One day you will be assigned to the lab, on the other you will work on learning lab equipment and purpose.

The instructions to both are found in your Google drive. The equipment will be in a bucket on your table.

If there is something you do not understand, then ask.

Instructions on how to turn in both assignments are on their respective pages.

Remember, you will have a test over lab safety and equipment identification.

Day 8 - Lab Safety & Reading Graduated Cylinders

Today we will be learning how to read a graduated cylinder properly.

Here is the graduated cylinder practice.

We will also be going over different safety rules and completing a group presentation with them.

I will help you add your Chemistry folder to your Google Drive.

Remember, it is your responsibility to understand all of the rules, not just the slide you did.

Day 7 - Writing Conclusions & Class Expectations

Today conclusions will be written using the sentence frames to the right.

Students also need to go over class expectations.

Day 6 - Experimenting & Graphing

Today the Table of Contents, Picture of You on Page 5 were checked off along with the procedures.  You also were to read page 9.  See slides to the right.

Got procedures checked off.

Got page 5 picture checked off.

Did the experiment and made a graph.  Ms. Cool provided the graph paper.

Day 5 - Writing Procedures

Today students took notes on how to write good procedures (at right).

Assignment (slide 13) was to write procedures and data tables.

Day 4 - Trigger Assignment & Brainstorming

Ms. Cool did several demos with water.  Students recorded their observations on page 10.  See slides to the right.

Students continued with brainstorming and starting to identify their research question and experimental design.

Returned papers from the first days.

Day 3 - Table of Contents, Finish Fundamentals of Experimental Design

Students completed table of contents.

Added page 9 about making a graph.

Assigned Unit Cover page (requirements to the right).

Students to get a picture of themselves and put on page 5 by Monday.

Finished and turned in Fundamentals of Experimental Design

Day 2 - Interactive Notebook pages, Fundamentals of Experimental Design

Taped in Pages 1-8 in the Interactive Notebook.

Began Fundamentals of Experimental Design handout.

Day 1 - Failure, Intro to Notebooks, Penny Lab

Students did a quickwrite on failure.  They were given their notebooks and the label with their names on it.

Assignment was to label all of the page numbers for the entire notebook.

Finally, we completed a penny lab.
